If you are a first time mutual fund investor you need to be KYC complaint. KYC is the full form of Know Your Customer. It is a mandatory one-time procedure to establish your identity detail and link it to your PAN card number before you make any kind of investments. KYC compliance is necessary for creating bank accounts as well.
If your KYC details were verified prior to 1 January 2012 you need to fill KYC form again to comply with new KYC requirements while making a new investment.

To be KYC compliant you need to fill up KYC form, fill in details and submit it with supporting documents at office of one of the mutual fund distributors or mutual fund registrars.
